Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She received an undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. In 1976, she joined the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). Two years later she became a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. She was made the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was host and a panelist at the TV show Meet the Press. She was on the panel during the 1988 presidential debates with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors for her journalism achievements, such as the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell initially covered the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both the terms of President Ronald Reagan. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran Contra scandal, budget tax reforms and the arms control. She traveled with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan several times to summits and debate topics including that of the Iran Contra controversy.
